Photography > Coppice Growth

The coppicing of a tree is cutting a tree down and leaving the stump or ‘stool’. From the stool will grow shoots of new trees. Woodland management uses this as a traditional method to promote new growth and habitats for the woodland area creating beneficial biodiversity.

This piece explores the intertwined nature of living among the trees, being one in the same if we are good stewards. We grow from the trees, the trees grow from us, we have ingrained ourselves in the survival of their existence as much as our own, biophilia.
