Bio

Ashley Beatty (b. 1983) is an environmental photographer and educator whose transdisciplinary practice explores the intersection of ecological consciousness and artistic expression. Based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Beatty holds a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art (2019). Her research-based work, supported by the prestigious Larson Award (2018), includes collaboration with Smithsonian biologists investigating forest ecosystems and interspecies communication networks.

Beatty's photography has been exhibited internationally, with notable presentations at the Foundry Art Centre's Photography 6 Exhibition (Saint Charles, MO), and venues in Edenton, NC and Detroit, MI. Her academic contributions include lectures in Beijing and teaching engagements in Shanghai (2019). She has developed her practice through residencies at OxBow (Saugatuck, MI), Plyspace (Muncie, IN), and Peanut Factory (Edenton, NC). Beatty's professional experience encompasses teaching positions at the University of Saint Francis and Purdue Fort Wayne, alongside curatorial work as the gallerist at Bread and Circus Art Gallery & Artist Residency Program. She currently serves as the interim photography instructor at Saint Francis.
